Rules and Guidelines for 2010 KY/OH Xtreme Cheerleaders About We are a semi-professional cheerleading squad. We are closer related to NFL style cheerleading rather than high school or college. We do not stunt or do floor cheers. We dance at half time as well as perform sideline cheers and short dances (cadences) during the game. However, you will not be weighed or forced to diet. Our uniforms are not as revealing as NFL uniforms and do not show stomachs. We will be getting new uniforms this year. Our time commitment is 4 hours of practice a week.
General Rules a. Showing up at practices or games while under the influence of drugs or alcohol will result in dismissal from the squad. b. Respect the coaches and squad members at all times. If a coach tells you to do something, do it. If a squad member makes a suggestion, be respectful when voicing your opinion. c. There will be no racism ever. Period. d. There will be no cattiness or drama. This will NOT be tolerated. It is not worth our time and you may potentially be dismissed from the squad if it becomes a problem. If you have a problem with another squad member, work it out, tell the director, or ignore her. We are grown women and will act as such. e. Having a good attitude is required. Even if you hate a particular routine, you still have to do it. No complaining. f. Cheerleaders will sign one year contracts with the team, just as the players do. g. Practicing at home is encouraged. If everyone knows the routine but you, whose fault is that?
2. Practices
a. Practices begin at 7:00pm and last until 9:00pm Tuesday and Thursday nights. You are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early to stretch, change, prepare, have a snack, etc. *If you can only make one day a week, it still may be possible to be on the squad. b. Practices are closed. c. Full participation is required at all practices. There will be no goofing off or “I don’t feel like practicing today” mind-sets. If you don’t want to practice, then you don’t want to be on this squad. Practices are for bettering our squad, not catching up on the latest gossip. d. Missing excessive practices will result in dismissal from the squad. e. We cannot achieve the desired level of professionalism unless the whole squad gives this their 100%.
Games a. Arrive one hour early to all games, unless otherwise specified. We use this time for last minute practicing, touching up make-up, etc. b. No smoking during games. c. Jewelry is to be kept to a minimum. No large or hoop earrings. c. No teaching routines during games!!! This looks terribly unprofessional. Ex) A cheerleader is drawing a blank on the moves to the next sideline cheer. Another woman is not permitted to show her the moves in front of our fans. You can refresh her memory by saying, “It’s the one with the front/back ripple where we kick at the end,” but never do the moves while we are on the sidelines.
Appearance a. Hair will be game ready. Hair must reflect the semi-professional level of our organization. No ponytails! Remember, what is cute on high school cheerleaders (ex. ponytails and pigtails) is not always appropriate for grown women. b. Make-up must be game ready. Reference the make-up style of NFL cheerleaders if needed. Wearing only light eye shadow and lip gloss is not acceptable. If you show up to a game without proper make-up you will be asked to fix it before cheering.
3. Financial obligations a. You will pay for your uniform, poms, and shoes, although fundraising will be available. b. There will be no player fees for the cheerleaders.
Additional Information a. Our games are televised. Keep that in mind J
