GENERAL THOUGHTS FOR THE TEAM
1- HARD WORK is relevant and contagious. Good teams work hard! 2- BELIEF everyone must believe in each other from the coaches to players up to the owners. The coaches are working hard to make you the best players and the best team possible! Remember players play, coaches coach and owners own and if everyone knows their roles the team functions a lot smoother! So players don’t try to be coaches and coaches don’t try to be owners! 3- MENTAL PREPARTION the pre-season will be tough so prepare your mind for it! 4- TWO SEASONS our football season can be broken down into two parts. Boot camp and Regular season. In Boot camp we will work hard to get into condition because being in great shape helps pay off in the 4th quarter! We will also learn our fundamentals and techniques as well as formations and plays! Regular season should be a time for perfecting our plays NOT learning them! 5- NO EXCUSES this is our rally cry! We will always say to a complaining player this slogan “No Excuses” or to someone who isn’t accepting personal responsibility! Remember our slogan “PLAYOFFS NO EXCUSES” 6- COMMUNICATION we must establish an honest open means of communication between coaches and players. Mutual respect is a must in reaching our highest goal. 7- TEAM PLAYERS those willing to transform from me to we will be clearly visible to the coaching staff! These players always stand out above the rest and are vital to be a great team! My promise to you is that if you came to practice at least one time in the past week You will Play! I am not saying how much or how long BUT you will play and no other team in Cincinnati has that guarantee! If you do not come to any practices in the past week you forfit that guarantee. 8- PRIVILEGE playing the great game of football is a privilege it’s the greatest game of all! Its the only sport that takes in the [3] great conflicts in our world Man vs nature, Man vs man, Man vs himself CAPTAINS
OUR team Captain is the highest honor for any player to receive but it brings with It great responsibility and accountability! He is responsible to his coaches, teammates and his community. It means he has displayed qualities that very few players have! It means he has been selected to lead his peers in the most competitive of sports!
Captains will be elected at the end of Boot-camp by the team! Owners will not be Allowed to be Captains for it’s a conflict of interest! Every one will have a Chance to show leadership ability in Boot-camp. Nobody will be denied this title Based on race or experience.
Choosing a captain will take into account questions of Character, discipline and leadership. The captain must display a great attitude about our team and must inspire with their actions!
Captains can lose their title if they display questionable character, undesirable Work ethic or a lack of respect for authority as well as abusing their power!
This is a great honor and only the honorable should be chosen!
PLAYER EVALUATION
One of the roles as coaches is to determine who plays, how much each player Plays, and when they play. These are hard decisions determined after careful Evaluations and input from other coaches!
Many factors make up the criteria for deciding who plays and when. They are Position, depth and circumstances! The ultimate criteria comes down to the Following 1] confidence in players ability 2] the players ability to make big plays Within our system 3] consistency of performance 4] leadership
Every offense, defense and special team are carefully coordinated and planned. Each one of the eleven players must know where to go, what to do and have the Ability to do it! We as coaches have the obligation to the team to play the person Who has demonstrated the ability to do these things!
There is never a political, social, racial or personality factor involved in Determining starters or playing time! Remember it’s easier to blame a coach Than to look in the mirror!
BOOT-CAMP OBJECTIVES
